Interview Toughie: “Why Have You Had So Many Jobs?”

Have you ever had to answer this tough interview question?  Why have you had so many jobs?  Liz Ryan, former human resources vice president and author of “Reinvention Roadmap: Break the Rules to Get the Job You Want and Career You Deserve,” offers some advice in this article.

In summary, you must:

  • Believe in your own worth
  • Own your power without feeling as if you must constantly apologize
  • Convey with confidence, not defensiveness, all the benefits of having these life experiences

Here are some mistakes to avoid while answering this question:

  • Don’t blame your former employers
  • Don’t joke about not being able to stay in one place for long
  • Don’t say you were bored at your old place
