Plano Public Library is offering a series of programs this fall focusing on financial literacy, college, and career & business. All programs are free and no registration is required unless otherwise noted.

Financial Literacy Programs

  • Get Money Smart
    Schimelpfenig Library, Saturday, September 29, 10:30am
    Learn steps to avoid the dangers of financial uncertainty or exploitation. Presented by the Elder Financial Safety Center, a non-profit promoting financial well-being.
  • Credit Scores
    Haggard Library, Wednesday, October 10, 7:00pm
    An introduction to the 4 Cs of Credit and how they impact you. The discussion includes understanding a credit report and suggestions on how to improve your credit score. Presented by the Elder Financial Safety Center, a non-profit promoting financial well-being.


College Prep Programs
*For students grades 9-12; advanced registration required.

  • College Entrance Exams – SAT*
    Harrington Library, Saturday, October 6, 10:30am – 3:30pm
    Take an actual test and find out right away how you can improve. The test is followed by a 1-hour tutorial and runs through lunchtime. Bring snacks and a bottle of water with you. Presented by More Than a Teacher.
  • College Entrance Exams – ACT*
    Haggard Library, Saturday, November 10, 10:30am – 3:30pm

  • Preparing a Competitive Resume
    Haggard Library, Saturday, October 13, 10:30am – 12:30pm
    More seasoned workers commonly find searching for employment today much different than earlier in their career. Learn to create a resume that highlights your skills to impress employers. Program presented by an HR professional with the Elder Financial Safety Center.
  • Job Interviews that Wow
    Haggard Library, Saturday, November 10, 10:30am – 12:30pm
    Getting hired can be a challenge for more mature workers, but a key can be the interview. Learn how to highlight your skills to impress potential employers. Program presented by HR professional with the Elder Financial Safety Center.
  • Job Search Seminar
    Davis Library, Saturday, December 8, 10:00am
    Get tips on creating your resume and preparing for a successful interview. Learn about library resources that will help you research business, find a job online, and improve your e-skills.
